Taco'bout a Great New Year! - New Door Decor & More

Here we are again, at the beginning of a bright, shiny new school year!  Here was the door when the kids walked in on day one, (keep in mind I teach Spanish in addition to Art!)

All classes started the year with a trace & decorate project with a different material.  Even the preschoolers got in on the personalized hand action, (although we took their painted paper and cut our big teacher hands out for them!).  Each grade was assigned a different medium: water color, crayon, pastel, tempera, Sharpie, oil pastel, marker, etc.  The end result was so colorful and each student in the school got to see something of theirs hanging up in the school right away!

I used a Mother Theresa quote in the middle, to tie in the hands and the kindness I hope fills this new school year.  "Give of your hands to serve and your heart to love".

Now that it's Halloween time, I thought MONSTERS would be the perfect addition to our door... specifically the kids' favorite guys, Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc.  So far they're a big hit!

I also decided to use memes around my class this year.  I put them at the height of the older kids' eyes because they're the ones who think they're the most hilarious.  See Mike Wazowski's little smashed hand sticking out the door?  I made him too big so he wraps around a little bit.  :)

HAPPY TEACHING!
