Cursive Name Aliens!

Are your students learning cursive?  Perfect!  So are my 3rd graders.  Let's talk art project!

Fold a piece construction paper in half.

With the fold acting like the bottom line, have students write their names in cursive, (ignoring the tails on any low hanging letters such as "g" or "y").

Your students will then need to outline their cursive name with a pencil, (like making cursive bubble letters!)

The next step is to cut out the outline, being careful not to cut into the fold except at the very beginning and the very end.

When unfolded, you'll have a name alien's body, ready to glue onto another piece of paper and add some details on with either collage or markers!

The kids loved this one, and they had fun guessing whose names were whose in the hallway!  Can you guess my name by looking at my alien?
